Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Histotechnologist to join a rapidly growing laboratory in a dual-role capacity as both a working histotechnologist and laboratory manager. This individual will play a critical role in both hands-on specimen preparation and the day-to-day operational leadership of the histology department. Key Responsibilities:

Bench Responsibilities:
Perform routine and complex histology procedures including embedding, microtomy, staining, slide preparation and IHC Ensure high-quality specimen processing with strict adherence to laboratory standards (CAP; CLIA) Maintain equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as needed
Operational & Leadership Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the histology laboratory Manage staffing schedules, time clock oversight, PTO coordination, and coverage planning Supervise and support histology personnel, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment Train, mentor, and develop team members to support their professional growth and career trajectories Maintain workflow efficiency and turnaround times
Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities:
Manage inventory, supply ordering, and vendor relationships Partner with executive leadership, including the COO, on purchasing decisions and contract negotiations Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to reduce overall laboratory overhead Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards Qualifications 5+ years of histology experience required Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Strong technical proficiency in all aspects of histology Excellent organizational and operational management skills Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization We are looking for someone who: Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment Takes ownership of both operational outcomes and team development Is passionate about building strong teams and helping others succeed Is motivated by career advancement and long-term growth opportunities Brings both technical excellence and leadership capability to the role Why Join Us Be part of a laboratory experiencing significant growth and expansion Opportunity to shape and lead a critical department Direct collaboration with executive leadership Clear pathway for career advancement Impact both operational success and team development Additional Duties Supervise daily laboratory activities, including tissue embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting to produce high-quality histological slides Manage specimen collection, processing, and labeling with precision to ensure accurate diagnostics and research outcomes Oversee laboratory safety protocols, aseptic techniques, and compliance with regulatory standards to maintain a safe working environment Coordinate with clinical teams to facilitate specimen handling, patient care integration, and timely reporting of results Train and mentor laboratory staff on advanced histotechnological techniques, laboratory procedures, and medical terminology Maintain detailed records of laboratory workflows, quality control measures, and equipment maintenance logs Collaborate with research teams to support experimental protocols involving tissue analysis and pathology studies Join us in advancing healthcare through meticulous laboratory management! Pay:
