Job Description

Laboratory Manager
  • Polymer Materials (Growth Facility) A high growth polymer building materials manufacturer in the Greater Atlanta region is transforming its quality lab into a fully integrated materials laboratory.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity to help build analytical and physical testing capability from the ground up while supporting polyolefin composite development, with a focus on using recycled materials. Why This Role Is Attractive The company is investing heavily in automation, robotics, laboratory infrastructure, and materials innovation. You will play a central role in shaping lab strategy, influencing formulation improvements, and supporting rapid business expansion in polymer building products. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead build-out of analytical and physical testing labs
  • Commission and validate FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, EDX, rheology, and mechanical testing systems
  • Align methods with ASTM standards
  • Support formulation trials using recycled polyolefin materials
  • Implement documentation, SOPs, and traceability systems
  • Lead and mentor laboratory technicians
  • Partner with R&D and Manufacturing on continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications
  • Degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or related discipline
  • 7+ years laboratory experience in polymer or composite materials
  • Strong thermoplastics background required
  • Experience with recycled polyolefins and fillers preferred
  • 2+ years leadership experience
  • Familiarity with DOE, SPC, and structured problem solving methods Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $110,000
  • $140,000 Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with match Paid time off and holidays Minimal travel, approximately 10 percent H2
