The Supervisor oversees the day to day running of the 2 anatomic pathology laboratories at Duly. The anatomic pathology department performs both histology and cytology. The Supervisor should be compassionate, operationally experienced, highly motivated and can communicate effectively within the laboratory and with the clinics. The Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, and lab assistants. Under the direction of the director/manager will establish efficient and effective workflow in both laboratories, identify and resolve technical issues, establish and monitor Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs to meet CAP requirements, establishes and maintains compliance with all applicable health and safety policies, assigns work schedules and collaborates with pathologists and staff in identifying, planning, and implementing performance improvement projects. Works as a histotechnologist as needed Responsibilities The Supervisor will work as a histotechnologist as needed to include but not limited to the following Embedding Cutting Staining Send Outs Maintains quality results by participating in the laboratory quality assurance program; consulting with pathologists; reviewing quality control and quality assurance programs; making adjustments in policy and procedures; generating reports; maintaining records: Co-ordinate Proficiency Testing Review and sign maintenance logs monthly Develop and implement new policies and procedures as needed Assist with preparation for inspections Provide corrective action Point person for pathologists' questions and requests. Ensures labs are compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Involved in the selection, training, evaluation, and discipline of staff as needed: Involved in the hiring process for new staff Orientation/training of new staff Perform 30 day, 90 day and annual reviews Perform competencies for all staff Involved in Implementing new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress: Involved in investigation, implementation, and method review of new tests within the Laboratory Services scope Laboratory Information system (LIS) verification and reviewGeneral Responsibilities:
Scheduling Ordering supplies as needed Act as on-site resource for lab staff Assist with troubleshooting Other duties as requested.SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT SCOPE
15-20 direct reports Local travel required between sites Qualifications Education HT (ASCP) required or must be eligible to complete certification within 12 months of hire date. Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience A high degree of analytical skills, attention to detail and leadership is necessary to assist with activities that optimize the quality performance of the anatomic pathology laboratories. A proactive approach must be taken to identifying and quantifying opportunities for quality improvement to maximize the operational effectiveness. The incumbent must work with a variety of individuals across the laboratory such as Pathologists, Histotechnologists, Cytotechnologists, Lab Assistants, Director, and Managers, in the implementation of quality methodology for the laboratory. Issues involve not only technical feasibility of quality protocols, but also computer support and user training in quality. Confidential information is handled according to organizational policy. The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $73,000-110,000, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.Qualifications:
