(BL-PSY-IUBLA) Department Information The Neuroscience of Mind and Behavior Lab (NiMBLe) , located within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University (IU), research incorporates behavioral, cognitive, and neuroimaging (fMRI) research to identify the mechanisms by which social cognition changes over the lifespan in healthy and pathological aging. Our research uses behavioral and social neuroscience approaches to understand social cognition (how people process, store, and apply information about others), and how it changes over the lifespan. Our current projects examine on how healthy and pathological (e.g., Alzheimer's disease) aging affect social cognition. The core mission of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington is to unlock the mysteries of the human brain and behavior, and to prepare students to apply that knowledge to improve the lives of people around the globe. As a part of the College of Arts and Sciences (The College), we are a highly multidisciplinary department, with faculty and students carrying out research ranging from molecular neuroscience to artificial intelligence. More information about the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University. Job Summary The project incorporates behavioral and neuroimaging methodologies. Department Specific Responsibilities Recruits and tests healthy older adults. Helps to conduct neuroimaging research. Supervises undergraduate research assistants. Coordinates research efforts with our team in Indianapolis. Receives formal training in administering neuropsychological assessments. May also have the opportunity to analyze fMRI data, earns authorship on publications, and presents posters at scientific meetings. General Responsibilities Responsible for the initiation, monitoring, completion, and reporting of routine to moderately complex research studies. Organizes and implements data review and analysis. Oversees the proper handling of laboratory specimens including processes, shipping, storage, and documentation and transfer to designated central laboratories. Conducts data quality assurance practices. Prepares research summaries and assists in progress report development. Maintains laboratory work areas and supply inventory. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Required Bachelor's degree (preferably in science, psychology, neuroscience or health-related discipline)WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred Some laboratory experience. Experience working with people either in research or more applied settings. SKILLS Required Proficient communication skills. Interests in conducting aging research. Ability to work independently. Working Conditions / Demands The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
