Job Description
At the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory, our mission is to empower communities and improve lives by delivering responsive, inclusive, and forward-thinking public services. We are proud to serve the people of Louisiana with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to equity. We're looking for a Crime Lab Manager to join our Quality Assurance and Evidence Unit. In this role, they ensure full compliance with laboratory policies, procedures, accreditation standards, and applicable state laws. Responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date safety protocols, ensuring proper evidence submission and chain of custody, and overseeing handling, return and destruction of evidence and documentation. A baccalaureate degree with twelve semester hours in biology or chemistry and an additional twelve semester hours in a biological science, chemistry, forensic science, molecular physics, physics, criminalistics or pharmacology plus five years of professional level laboratory experience. A combination of coursework is allowed.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Graduate training in qualifying fields will substitute for one year of the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience; a combination of coursework is allowed.NOTE:

As a Crime Lab Manager, you will conduct forensic analyses at the request of local, state, and federal law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. Examples of other duties included are; Manage lab quality assurance program to ensure compliance with current accreditation requirements. Supervise Crime Lab Supervisors in maintaining, reviewing, and documenting lab quality programs. Monitors laboratory practices, including instrument calibration and maintenance, appropriate use of reagents, standards and traceability, new method/instrument validation, technical and administrative review of lab reports. Plans, organizes, conducts, and documents internal audits of the LSP Crime Lab to verify that its operation complies with laboratory's quality control system. Manages lab corrective action program Manages lab proficiency testing program. Coordinates and monitors all external audits and surveillance visits of lab as they relate to accreditation.Position-Specific Details:
