SAI Gulf specializes in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels such as coal, coke, and petroleum coke in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region and samples over 45 million tons of dry bulk commodities annually. SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities. Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Lab Tech/Prep Tech Supervisor to lead daily laboratory preparation and support operations. This role supervises technicians (Lab and Prep) while actively participating in sample preparation and lab work to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Supervision & Leadership Supervise, train, and schedule laboratory and prep technicians Assign daily work priorities to meet production timelines Monitor performance and provide coaching feedback Assist with hiring, onboarding, and evaluations Enforce SOPs, policies, and safety standards Laboratory Operations Perform and oversee sample preparation and labeling Ensure proper equipment use, calibration, and maintenance Review results for accuracy and compliance Troubleshoot issues and escalate as needed Maintain inventory of lab supplies Quality & Compliance Ensure adherence to OSHA, CLIA, FDA, ISO, and internal standards Enforce safety procedures and PPE usage Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain accurate documentation Collaboration Coordinate with lab management and other teams Communicate workflow status and staffing needs Support process improvement efforts

Qualifications Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in science-related field or equivalent experience

Experience:

3-5 years of lab or prep experience Supervisory experience preferred

Skills:

Knowledge of lab prep techniques and equipment Familiarity with SOPs and QA/QC processes Strong leadership and organizational skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Work Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 35 lbs At SAI Gulf, we strive to create a work environment where every person is valued, respected, and safe from discrimination or harassment of any kind. $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
