Day Shift Description:
Monday through Friday - Hours are 8:30-5pm Position Summary Oversees the daily operations of the Laboratory department, which encompasses first, second and third shifts with staff located at Mercy Health Muskegon location. Supervises in the planning, directing and evaluating of operations in collaboration with the Manager, including staff development, daily staff assignment of duties, customer service strategies, assistance with performance evaluation, implementing Muskegon's strategic and operational plan, and intra-and interdepartmental communication as well as a liaison with medical staff. Direct reports include Inpatient Lab Assistants. What the Non Technical Lab Supervisor will need:Education Minimum:
High school Diploma/College Education preferred.Related Experience Minimum:
Two years phlebotomy experiencePreferred:
Previous leadership experienceOther Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum:
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer-service orientation. Ability to prioritize work effectively. Ability to exercise independent judgment as appropriate within standard practices and procedures. What the Non Technical Lab Supervisor will do: Collaborates with the Team Leads, Phlebotomists, Administrative Secretaries and Coordinators to ensure compliance with protocols/standards at all department locations. Conducts regular audits to ensure compliance. Tracks and reports on daily, monthly and quarterly metrics align with the strategic plan. Initiates process improvements for metrics not meeting targets. Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly data/QA reports. Develops and conducts presentations for findings. Prepares and ensures compliance with departmental policies and work standard. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff regular huddles and meetings. Coordinates and assigns the work to staff; assists as necessary to ensure quick turnaround times; performs frontline work as needed. Modifies colleague work schedules.
