Job Summary:
Manages the direction of all supervisory personnel in each of the regional hospital laboratory departments. Ensure regulatory compliance for all areas of the laboratory service line in all regional hospitals including chemistry, hematology/urinalysis/serology, blood bank, microbiology, anatomic pathology, POCT, laboratory education, laboratory office, phlebotomy, and laboratory maintenance service. Coordinates essential factors of quality assurance for clinical laboratory service including; competence of personnel; quality of materials (methods, reagents, and instruments); internal quality control; and reliable reporting systems. Facilitates intra-hospital and intra-laboratory communications. Insures compliance with accreditation guidelines. Employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces meaningful contributions to the goals of each facility. Requires the promotion of and adherence to the organization's established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while begin sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations:
Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and precepted phases of your orientation to your job. Utilizes excellent oral and written communication skills. Properly utilizes laboratory equipment, microscopes, and instrumentation. Troubleshoots technical aspects of multiple pieces of laboratory equipment, microscopes, and instrumentation. Uses safe laboratory work habits. Consistently multitasks and prioritizes workload to ensure quality clinical results and regulatory compliance. Performs laboratory tests with precision and accuracy in a timely manner. Follows laboratory guidelines set forth by CLIA and ensures department personnel do the same. Provides organizations and leadership in a manner that advances the clinical operations of each laboratory.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills B.S. degree in medical technology or equivalent
Work Experience:
Five years experience as a medical technologist with leadership experience.
Certification/Licensure:
MT (ASCP), CLS, eligible for same or equivalent credentials
