Job Description

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily lab operations, leading and developing staff, and ensuring efficient, high-quality production across assigned areas. This role serves as the primary point of contact for lab-related needs, manages scheduling for semen collection and production, and collaborates cross-functionally to achieve business goals. The position also performs key laboratory processes—including evaluating, processing, and packaging product—while maintaining strict quality standards and operational excellence.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with SOPs, regulatory requirements, and safety standards while maintaining high efficiency and product quality Lead, coach, and develop laboratory staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and fostering a collaborative team environment Manage production scheduling, inventory, and collection priorities to meet operational goals and partner needs Perform and oversee laboratory processes, including evaluation, quality control, and handling of product to meet strict quality and export standards Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment and supplies, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance as needed Maintain accurate records, certifications, and compliance documentation while supporting audits and regulatory requirements Drive continuous improvement by supporting operational goals, cross-site collaboration, and initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, or a related life science field preferred, with prior lab and/or leadership experience Working knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment, including microscopy, cryopreservation, and record keeping Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team setting and influence others Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills Comfortable working in a laboratory environment, including cold rooms and handling liquid nitrogen Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 pounds, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
