Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall management of pick-up and delivery of laboratory specimens, reports and supplies to internal and external clients. Responsible for the scheduling and management of all couriers. Responsible for development and maintanence of scheduling and electronic tracking system to provide logistics management for the Health System. Direct responsibility for managing department (including fleet, supplies, personnel, specimen tracking, etc.) with maximum efficiency.PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1.- Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2.
- Manages the activities of the couriers related to client pick-ups and deliveries, courier routes and fleet maintenance. 3.
- Defines courier routes and determines driver assignment for each route to operate in the most efficient manner and analyzes and resolves route related problems. 4.
- Sets guidelines for courier dispatching and supervises dispatch staff. 5.
- Oversees the departmental budgetary procedure to ensure proper operational and capital planning, appropriate and efficient use of resources and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls. 6.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of staff. 7.
- Develops and manages electronic tracking system to ensure efficient operation to its fullest extent. 8.
- Produces performance statistics related to on-time delivery, missed pick-ups, customer service, etc. 9.
- Prepares invoices and reconciles payments for other departments within the Health System for courier services rendered. 10.
- Collaborates with Laboratory leaders, Medical Center and Health System personnel by utilizing effective communication skills and problem solving techniques.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions. 2. Knowledge of organizational and human resource management standards and practices. 3. Knowledge of performance improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices. 4. Knowledge of management and leadership principles and practices. 5. Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution. 6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff. 8. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills. 9. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information. 10. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. 11. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes. 12. Ability to make operational and management decisions in response to changing conditions. 13. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of six (6) years of logistics management experience required. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory or managerial experience required. Minimum of one (1) year of logistics management or related experience required.OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.) (DOT) - Characterized as very heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Long periods of standing, lifting, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing and crawling with occasional exposure to high voltage, high temperatures and heights from 25 - 120 feet; exposure to latex, body fluid, blood, fiberglass and fire proofing insulation, dust, noise and exposure to wet and damp places. Must wear personal protection devices and clothing, i.e. respirator, hard hats and safety back belts. May work in an on-call capacity and be required to work holidays, weekends, evening and nights, overtime as needed including seasonal work i.e. snow removal.Location:
