We are looking for a Lab Supervisor to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health!
What You'll Do:
Performs tests in designated clinical areas; appropriately reports panic values; performs quality control according to protocol; performs calibration according to procedures; performs daily, scheduled and periodic maintenance on various equipment; answers telephone; takes and relays messages, communicates test results. Develops, trains and retains qualified and competent staff; schedules and supervises the activity of personnel both intra- and inter-departmentally; dictates, assists with, and implements department policies and procedures; assures departmental compliance with all regulatory requirements including all standards for accrediting body, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), etc., and actively supports survey initiatives; supports Director in developing processes to improve overall customer satisfaction; creates and maintains a successful work environment; assists with training of students from various colleges and technical schools. Orders and maintains inventory levels of testing supplies; demonstrates fiscal responsibility in ordering and maintaining the appropriate inventory of laboratory testing supplies and reagents, including the various standing orders for laboratory supplies; supports Director in analysis and planning of budget for capital needs. Performs patient functions in Health Information Systems (HIS) (e.g. registrations, order entry, updates tests, prints labels, enters and releases results, etc., as stated in computer manual, etc.). Collects blood specimens (e.g. venous, capillary, arterials [arterials limited to patients over 16 years of age], etc.) and urine specimens following proper collection procedures; performs simplates on patients over age 16; performs collections for health screens at external locations.
Requirements:
Medical Technologist certification and five (5) years laboratory experience; two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred. Certified as Medical Technologist (MT) and American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Shift 1st Hours 80 per pay (Every two weeks) Time Off
