This position manages the sustainment and improvement of chemical solutions, supervises lab personnel, coordinates production and waste treatment teams, and ensures that all processes meet internal quality, safety, and environmental standards. Responsibilities 1. Laboratory Operations Management Plan, schedule, and supervise analysis of finishing and process solutions according to laboratory schedules and production needs. Ensure all chemical analyses, corrosion tests, and Hull Cell evaluations are performed accurately and in compliance with documented procedures. Oversee use and maintenance of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ensure data integrity. Review analytical results, interpret data trends, and recommend chemical adjustments or process improvements. Maintain calibration schedules and ensure proper operation of all laboratory instrumentation. 2. Personnel Supervision and Training Lead and mentor laboratory technicians and interns; assign daily work priorities. Develop staff competency through ongoing training on chemical analysis, safety, and quality procedures. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Chemical Inventory and Chemical Add Oversight Manage inventory and procurement of laboratory reagents and process chemicals. Approve and issue chemical add sheets and oversee accurate tank adjustments. Coordinate with production and stockroom teams to ensure chemical availability and proper tracking through Chemical Management Software. 3. Safety and Environmental Compliance Ensure adherence to all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations. Coordinate hazardous waste management, spill response, and environmental sampling. Support internal and external audits for safety, environmental, and quality compliance. Cross Departmental Coordination Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure alignment between laboratory results and operational performance. Support process troubleshooting and corrective action development. Lead improvement projects aimed at process optimization and defect reduction. Continuous Improvement and Quality Management Apply quality management system (QMS) requirements in all laboratory activities. Use data analysis to drive continuous improvement in laboratory practices and overall process capability. Support sustainment and advancement of quality registrations and accreditations. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science required. 5-10 years of laboratory or chemical process experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of metal finishing as applied to chemistry. Completion of Erie Plating 9 Lesson Program (preferred after hire).
