Job Description

Job Summary Manages implementation of practice guidelines of the Vascular Lab department under the guidance and direction of the Director of Operations, Department of Surgery. Assumes responsibility for patient care and safety and for the quality of services provided by the department. Assists with the development and implementation of departmental aspects of CV Services. Responsible for the Quality Assurance and Process Improvement functions pertaining to the assigned departments. Responsible for staff in-service and coordination of activities necessary for licensure and accreditation of assigned areas. Assists with student training and implementation of Vascular Sonographer Training program to be housed at the CVI. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Establishes and maintains the technical operations of assigned departments within Prisma Health and satellite contracted sites which contain Vascular Labs. Assists in planning of new CV facilities, new equipment and modification to existing equipment. Responsible for the proper care and use of equipment and materials. Coordinates all vascular lab departments to maintain staffing coverage and departmental functions. Performs exams as necessary and to maintain working clinical knowledge of vascular procedures in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Promotes patient care and safety within the department. Is responsible for the smooth flow of patient traffic. Works with various departments to ensure good employee, physician and managerial relationships. Solves personnel problems with related areas. Works with staff in areas of need due to shortages, FMLA, PTO and sick time. Ensures processes are in place to notify patients and families of all delays, (including calling inpatients room when procedure is delayed more than one (1) hour. Coordinates Service Recovery efforts in all departments. Works with Director of CV Institute in management of human resources. Evaluates and counsels employees regarding performance, conduct, attendance and other related matters. Reviews employee evaluations with Clinical Coordinator. Responsible for training and supervision of department Clinical Coordinators. Assists in the planning, organizing and directing activities of CV Services, including policy formation, charge structure and procedure development as related to departmental operations. Monitors CDM to ensure compliance and maximize revenue capture Acts as a liaison between CV Services and the other departments within hospital and outpatient services. Informs Director of Surgery of any potential problems or needs that relate to operations or personnel. Review accident reports, incident reports and unusual occurrences. Takes corrective action as required. Consults with other departments in the System about equipment changes, updates and possible equipment relocation to establish new services as needed. Establishes and maintains an equipment maintenance program. Is responsible for capital equipment budget each fiscal year. Oversees all new or relocated equipment installations. Keeps abreast of new technology by reading professional publications and attending seminars, in-services, equipment site visits. Recommends equipment changes and updates to existing equipment, room design and layout. Coordinates productive working relationship with equipment vendors, service personnel, and Information Technology. May work directly with CV PACS Coordinator to ensure imaging and databases perform consistently. May work directly with inventory specialist to maintain an effective electronic inventory system. Monitors utilization of supplies to ensure cost effectiveness. Analyze, monitor and correct as appropriate variances of responsibility report. 10) Maintains the
ICAVL/ICAEL
accreditation for vascular lab services. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports. Minimum Requirements Education•Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, Healthcare or related field of study Experience•Three (3) years as a Vascular Technologist.
