OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Histology Lab Manager to oversee the daily operations of our histology laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in laboratory management, histological techniques, and clinical research processes. As the Histology Lab Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of processing, and analysis while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Graduate from a school of Histotechnology accredited by
CAHEA/NAACLS
Preferred Education:
Associate's degree from accredited college/program in a related science.
Minimum Experience:
2 years experience in a managerial role with fiscal, regulatory and quality improvement responsibilities
Preferred Experience:
3 years managerial experience
Required Certifications/Licensure:
Histologic Technician (HT) from American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Management:
Assists in establishing goals and objectives that support overall strategic plans of the facility/Baptist Health System Monitors the annual department operating and capital budgets Manages daily operations of assigned department/s Manages performance of staff Demonstrates objectivity in decision making, utilizing facts to support decisions Supports the mission statement, policies and procedures of the Baptist Health System Manages to eliminate boundaries to achieve integrated, efficient and quality service Achieves ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies Serves as a resource to employees and customers as demonstrated by visibility and knowledge of issues Demonstrates flexibility in response to change Anticipates and responds to problems and risks Communicates effectively with all levels in the organization and with inter/external customers
People Management:
Selects or assists in selection of personnel for hire and promotion; takes appropriate actions regarding counseling, disciplinary actions, demotion and termination Manages, supports and coaches direct reports Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns Recognizes "experts" and "expertise" throughout the department and seeks employee input Facilitates consensus among divergent groups Minimizes staff turnover Recognizes employees' strengths and accomplishments Evaluates or assists in evaluating assigned staff performance and competency, providing direct feedback Assists in development of competency plans and provides opportunities for learning
Department/Business Unit Management:
Ensures the accuracy and efficiency of services provided by the department Ensures compliance with ALL local, federal, CLIA, CAP, safety and OSHA guidelines Maintains a positive and professional work environment Ensures personnel maintain a clean and well -organized work area Meets all required deadlines assigned Maintains department supply stock levels and orders supplies Provides technical instruction, training and guidance to technicians and lab assistants in techniques, instrumentation and organization of work. Adheres to laboratory and surgery quality control policies, and ensures documentation of all quality control activities Differentiates acceptable and unacceptable processing, embedding, cutting and staining of tissue specimens Ensures proper handling of all tissue samples/protocols Identifies problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results and resolves or immediately reports Calculates daily tech workload and updates on AP workload TAT Performs Histology bench work as needed to ensure timely completion of work Assists with special projects as assigned Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to clients and patients. Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively Maintains safe environment Participates in Performance Improvement activities

$32.99 - $51.14 per hour
