Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or level. Job Summary The Manager of Lab supervises technical and support staff and oversees daily Laboratory operations. This includes ensuring regulatory requirements are met and monitoring test systems. The Manager also supervises staff activities, work assignments, hiring, termination, performance reviews, orientation, and professional development. Essential Functions of the Role Manages the daily functions of the laboratory to ensure efficiency. Performs all delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director. Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel including the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees. Ensures staff has the training, experience, and skills needed for their duties by coordinating education, in-services, and orientations. Maintains appropriate personnel and patient records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist with budgeting. Provide information about supplies, personnel, and equipment. Seek cost containment avenues. Plan long-term purchases or capital equipment. Establishes and implements quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies. Ensures the review of all quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records, and any associated corrective action. Provides input/support in the selection/purchase of capital equipment and the development of yearly budgets. Key Success Factors Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures. Ability to make operational choices about how work gets done, quality and productivity standards, and measurable goals for employees and project teams. Ability to use broader targets to regulate how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Ability to make or approve effective hiring and termination judgments. Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization. Basic business knowledge includes annual planning, goal setting, budget adherence, employee compensation, compliance, and risk management. General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
