Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or level. Job Summary The Manager of Lab Quality assists the Laboratory Quality Program Director. They help run quality assurance, improvement, and compliance programs. They manage daily programs to meet institutional and federal requirements. They take over the Director's duties when absent. Essential Functions of the Role Administers the document control system for all BSWH laboratories. This includes managing due dates for review and revising documents. Oversees creating system or division level documents for the lab. This includes quality, safety, and all specific lab sections (Chem, Heme, etc.). Implements standards for BSWH laboratories for new hire training and annual proficiency assessment. Designs and implements system-wide forms for documentation. Co-chairs the Laboratory Quality Sub-Councils. Oversees the creation of standard templates and monthly metrics reports for system, division, and facility levels. Is available in-person or by teleconference for all facility CAP inspections to answer questions about document control, policies, and procedures. Coordinates mock CAP inspections for all BSWH Laboratories. Coordinates the use of MTS (or alternatives) for BSWH Laboratories. Schedules and ensures documentation of annual HIPAA audits. Key Success Factors Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures. Data and critical thinking abilities. Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures. Knowledge of safety and infection control standards. Ability to work in a team environment. Provides training and opportunities for continuing education. Ability to make operational judgments about work quality, productivity standards, and measurable goals for employees and project teams. Ability to use broader goals to establish how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Ability to make or approve effective hiring and termination judgments. Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization. Basic business knowledge includes annual planning, goal setting, budget adherence, employee compensation, compliance, and risk management. General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
