This role ensures the delivery of high-quality analytical testing services, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, staff development, and customer satisfaction. The Laboratory Director provides leadership to laboratory managers and technical personnel while maintaining a culture of scientific excellence, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Management Conduct employee interviews, performance evaluations, and career development planning. Maintain availability and accessibility to laboratory personnel during operating hours. Promote a collaborative, high-performance work environment. Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to laboratory managers and staff. Manage and mentor direct reports, fostering professional growth and accountability. Laboratory Operations Oversee the daily operation and administration of laboratory activities. Ensure efficient workflow management and timely turnaround of laboratory samples and reports. Monitor laboratory performance metrics and implement improvements to increase productivity and quality. Coordinate resource allocation, equipment utilization, and staffing requirements to meet business objectives. Ensure compliance with ISO standards, BCC requirements, and all applicable regulatory guidelines. Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of laboratory methods, SOPs, and quality systems. Lead internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure data integrity, documentation accuracy, and adherence to laboratory best practices Training and Customer Support Develop and implement employee onboarding and technical training programs. Ensure staff competency through ongoing training and performance assessments. Provide technical support to customers and stakeholders, including responding to complex analytical inquiries. Maintain strong relationships with clients by supporting technical discussions and problem solving efforts. Qualifications Required Education Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Master's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Required Experience Minimum of 4 years of laboratory experience, preferably within a regulated environment (environmental, pharmaceutical, cannabis, food testing, or similar industries). Prior experience supervising technical personnel or laboratory operations. Demonstrated experience maintaining compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements. Technical Expertise Advanced knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and methodologies. Hands-on experience with at least two of the following technologies:
HPLC/LC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, PCR
Strong ability to interpret and evaluate analytical data from LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and HPLC platforms. Experience with method development, validation, and troubleshooting. Understanding of laboratory calculations, statistical analysis, and quality control procedures.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
