Full-time, 40 hours/week, flexible shift, hours vary, Lab hours are 8:00am - 10:00pm, non-exempt (hourly)
Compensation:
The full wage scale is $33.20 - $49.08 per hour. We also offer a $3.00 per hour shift differential for eligible evening and weekend hours. Placement within the wage range is determined by the candidate's relevant experience.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Laboratory Services Manager, this position is responsible for operations and management of the laboratory staff and performing general medical technologist duties, overseeing the technical quality of the lab, and acts as a technical resource to Lab employees. Supports the Laboratory Services Manager by providing leadership and oversight of the day-to-day lab operations, including but not limited to, overseeing quality control and quality assurance programs, coordinating training, assisting with staffing, and coordinating and directing lab staff work. Must meet high quality standards of patient care and regulatory requirements in a manner that promotes and supports the Core Values of the Family Care Network. Essential Job Functions Ensure compliance with all federal/state regulations, FCN Lab's Quality Assurance Program, and any other regulations and communicate policy or regulatory violations, and complete remedial actions along with the Laboratory Services Manager. Manage quality control and quality assurance program and oversee quality control statistics with Laboratory Services Manager. Implement new processes, instrumentation, and procedures effectively in the laboratory. Write new procedures and update existing policies/procedures as needed with lab manager. Oversee instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. Research and investigate laboratory-related problems and follow through with solutions. Responsible for maintaining the inventory of supplies for the technical lab. Ensure timely submission of packing slips by lab staff to Finance. Contribute to set up and troubleshooting of processes within the Orchard Harvest Laboratory Information System (LIS) with the laboratory leadership team and IT staff. Assist the EMR Support team in setup of effective laboratory-related processes within the EMR with the Laboratory Services Manager. Perform delegated functions of moderate complexity laboratory technical consultant role using established FCN procedures following federal/state regulations & guidelines. Participate in readiness of biannual survey of Medical Testing Site by the WSDOH. Perform the duties skill set of their role (MA-P/MLT/MT/MLS/etc.) and function as a mentor, preceptor or trainer as needed for staff to achieve competency. Assist with successful recruitment and selection, orientation and training, performance evaluation and disciplinary action for all aspects of lab personnel. Regularly review and evaluate the work of the lab staff to provide performance and behavior feedback. Completion of technical competency for all testing personnel. Oversee the scheduling operations of the Processing Center, including schedule management & on-call rotation, reviewing of timesheets, & approval/denial of time off requests. Provide coaching and disciplinary action in collaboration with Laboratory Services Manager. Support on-going staff development through mentoring, cross training, and participation in education opportunities to improve or enhance job skills. Ensure laboratory staff is operationally supported to provide ongoing patient-friendly care. Manage patient complaints via phone or in person with the support of the Laboratory Services Manager. Research and investigate laboratory-related problems and follow through with solutions. Work with clinic staff & practice managers on issues related to laboratory services. Identify areas to implement changes that improve patient care and make lab processes more efficient. Participate in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities. Oversee janitorial and maintenance of lab space in coordination with Laboratory Services Manager. Establish and maintain courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients. Demonstrate a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our internal and external customers. Participate in appropriate departmental and organizational meetings and committees as defined by supervisor and/or manager. Additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Utilize clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills in delivering safe and effective patient care per FCN standards within scope of license / certificate. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, policies, standards, procedures, tools and protocols applicable to laboratory services operations. Proven medical technology competence and knowledge of current medical terminology. Skillful in performing maintenance and troubleshooting lab instruments. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft and health information systems. Strong working knowledge of Outlook, data entry, simultaneous use of multiple computer systems. Ability to concentrate for extended periods, utilize good judgement, work accurately under pressure and handle stress to meet deadlines. Proven ability to organize and prioritize workload and problem solve/troubleshoot issues. Strong detail-orientation. Strong customer service both in person and via telephone. Effective verbal, written and electronic communication with physicians, APPs, staff and patients. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines as assigned. Discern and maintain confidentiality in compliance with applicable laws (i.e., HIPAA). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position. Perform the physical/functional responsibilities of the position. Education & Experience Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience, and ASCP certification or equivalent (Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician) strongly preferred. If not currently certified, certification is required within 6 months of working in this role. Maintain
MA-P/BLS/MLS/MLT
as required. High School or equivalent required. Previous experience will include at least 4-6 years of clinical laboratory experience with demonstrated technical expertise in the division for which the individual is responsible. Lead or supervisory experience preferred. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch.
Employee is regularly required to:
stand; walk and sit for long periods of time; use hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus and discern colors.
