Schedule/Hours:
Night shifts with rotating weekend coverage
Key Qualifications:
Current certification as Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Accepts certifications from ASCP or AMT Previous experience with blood banking is highly desired Competent in all aspects of laboratory testing, with an emphasis on blood bank methods and procedures
Preferred:
phlebotomy skills with ability to collect and process blood specimens Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in results Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform and evaluate a full range of laboratory tests, focusing on blood banking assignments, including cross-matching, antibody screening, and compatibility testing Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and lab safety protocols Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation related to blood bank testing Complete required documentation to ensure traceability and integrity of all samples Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to provide critical laboratory support for patient care May perform occasional phlebotomy as operational needs require Participate in ongoing educational opportunities to remain current with laboratory best practices and regulatory standards This contract role promises exposure to advanced laboratory practices and the opportunity to make a direct impact on patient care in a supportive work environment.
