APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE

$59.36 - $73.01 Under direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Section Leader, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs clinical laboratory testing and assists in promoting a quality of service based on accuracy and timeliness in reporting results. Responsible for assisting the department manager in the effective operation of the laboratory through the coordination of all activities in their respective responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Ability to function in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, serology/immunology. 2. Responsible for performing high-complexity testing. 3. Follows established procedures to perform Routine and STAT clinical laboratory testing 4. Notifies patient care unit and/or physician of critical lab values according to policy. 5. Follows established quality control procedures for all tests including initiation of remedial action in out-of-control situations. 6. Keeps abreast of reference and critical values for neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients so that the appropriate physician notification takes place in the event of the recovery of critical values related to specific age groups. 7. Performs all Laboratory Information system (LIS) functions necessary to complete patient testing and specimen processing. 8. Consults with other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. 9. Maintains a clean and organized work area and follow standard precautions at all times. 10. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Required Qualification:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1.

Current valid CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License required. 2. Sexual Harassment/ Bullying Prevention Certification required. (1 month from hire) 3. Minimum four years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist with focus in the area of Microbiology, Chemistry/POCT/UA, Transfusion Services/Hematology or Phlebotomy/Reference, preferred. 4. Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology or related field preferred. •No Referrals or Candidates Accepted from Recruiters or Agencies.
