Job Description

Job Summary As a Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS), you will perform pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical procedures and analyses to provide data for clinical purposes. The CLS will correlate and integrate patient data when interpreting test results and report results, which are substantiated by the proper use of appropriate quality control systems. The CLS will also use professional judgment and have an in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control and instrument maintenance. Specific Job Responsibilities Perform clinical tests in Immunology Department. Analyze clinical laboratory specimens following the standard methods and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director or designee Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data Perform routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedures Perform and document instrument function by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments Release or report results per Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures Train laboratory assistants on proper techniques/procedures related to clinical laboratory practice Qualifications Clinical Lab Scientist license from the State of California Strong knowledge of accepted clinical laboratory practice and procedures including handling of potentially infectious material and familiarity with California law relating to the practice of medical technology Moderate computer skills, good quality control and instrument maintenance knowledge Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Analytical problem-solving skills, proficiency in performing detailed tasks thoroughly and completely, and the ability to follow complicated instructions with accuracy Good organizational skills Strong knowledge of quality control and calibration
