Job Description
Where You'll Work Mercy Medical Center Redding offers comprehensive health care to nearly 300,000 residents in a six-county region. It is one of only two Level II trauma centers, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center north of Sacramento north of Sacramento. Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as specialized cardiovascular care, stroke care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, comprehensive cancer care, maternity care, and a robust robotic surgery program. One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Clinical Lab Scientist, you will be instrumental in unraveling medical mysteries, providing crucial diagnostic insights that directly impact patient treatment and recovery.
Every day, you will perform complex technical analyses across various laboratory disciplines, meticulously verifying results for accuracy and quality assurance. You will operate and maintain sophisticated instrumentation and collaborate closely with laboratory leadership to uphold the highest standards of practice and patient care. To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a profound dedication to scientific accuracy in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure while working as a critical component of the patient care team. Utilizing a significant amount of independent judgment tests patient samples through various chemical, microscopic, serological, and bacteriologic techniques Assists management with the maintenance of appropriate policies, procedures and equipment as requested Conducts orientation and training of new personnel and monitors performance of appropriate personnel in the section of primary responsibility as requested Operates and maintains automated equipment and maintains an adequate inventory of departmental supplies Performs quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement indicators routinely in the department Maintains work areas in an appropriate state of orderliness Job Requirements Required Recent clinical laboratory experience required
