Clinical Laboratory Scientist Job Description The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) will act as a generalist, processing a wide variety of samples. The role involves working in a hospital setting, handling everything from specialty samples in the morning to general samples at night, with volume and specialty varying throughout the shifts. Responsibilities Process a diverse range of clinical laboratory samples. Handle both high volume specialty samples during AM shifts and general samples during PM shifts. Collaborate with other CLS professionals and lab assistants. Ensure accurate and efficient clinical laboratory testing in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank. Work closely with hospital staff to support patient admission and discharge processes. Essential Skills Hematology Microbiology Chemistry Clinical laboratory testing Blood Bank Experience using Cerner Millennium 2+ years of CLS experience within a fast-paced, large hospital setting National CLS License BLS certification from AHA Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfortable working rotating weekends Ability to thrive in a dynamic and potentially stressful environment Work Environment The role offers two shifts: 2:30 PM to 11 PM and 10:30 PM to 4 AM, with 5x8 hour shifts and rotating weekends. The minimum contract is for 3 months, covering LOAs, with opportunities for overtime and shift pickups. You will work alongside three other CLS professionals, 2-3 lab assistants, and a lead on the bench. The lab environment is supportive and collaborative, with regular huddles and community-focused activities such as BBQs, hospital week, and charity events. The medical director provides holiday dinners for staff, contributing to a positive and engaging work culture. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Bernardino, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
