JOB SUMMARY
General Description Analyzes patient specimens by various procedures to monitor patient condition and assist physician in diagnosis. Works in all sections of the Laboratory, ensures that all tests are performed and reported in a prompt and efficient manner. Ensures that all maintenance, QC records, and temperature charts are kept current. Ensures that Quality Control guidelines and procedures are followed. Responsibility The MT/MLT works all areas of the Laboratory as a Laboratory generalist; ensures compliance with all requirements of applicable accrediting agencies; verifies the performance and proper operation of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. respects all aspects of confidentiality; follows hospital and departmental polices and procedures; and enhances job performance through personal/professional growth and development. Accurately collects and handles appropriate patient samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease in support of clinical laboratory operations. Sample types include blood, urine, sputum, body fluid, viral swabs, micro samples, and pathology specimens. Accountability The MT/MLT reports directly to the Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications Education:
MT — Completion of an accredited Medical Technology program or have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and is registered or eligible by a nationally recognized agency. MLT — Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program or Military Laboratory Program is required. An Associate Degree and registered or eligible by a nationally recognized agency. Working Environment Minimal health hazards from daily exposure to infectious patient specimens and biochemical agents are present. Job will include day, evening, and night, shifts on an as needed bases. Salary Range MLT
