Summary:
Performs tests to analyze patient specimens according to section specific policy and procedure. Interprets data to prepare a patient laboratory report. Communicates test results to health care affiliates. Maintains biomedical equipment. Performs QC/QA to ensure quality test results. Identifies and resolves problems that arise. Assists Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS or MT) by testing samples to validate or correlate instruments, assays and reagent lots . Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Skills Experience:
The Clinical Technologist
  • holds a Bachelor's Degree and will receive on-the-job-training to attain Technologist level (formalized training program must be achieved to be eligible to apply to a Medical Technologist 1 position).
Required:
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Biology or Chemistry, or a Bachelor's Degree of Science with a minimum of 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry; 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology, or any combination).
