Position Information Classification Title Medical Technologist Manager FLSA Exempt FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent plus 10 years of professional experience to include 3 years of supervisory experience Preferred Qualifications MS degree in a related field Medical technologist degree/license Proficiency in clinical pathology and parasitology diagnostics Proficiency in client communication Work experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory setting Experience in training undergraduate/graduate students Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team setting Position Summary This position is responsible for the supervision of the clinical pathology section at the Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic and Investigational Laboratory. This responsibility includes oversight of all test procedures, equipment maintenance, and inventory control as well as reading/evaluating hematology tests, performing urinalysis and parasitology, serum chemistry assays, and other clinical tests. The responsibility includes data management of results generated for reporting daily. This is a supervisory position responsible for hiring and training of medical technologists and student workers. The position is responsible for technical assistance and advice to faculty, practitioners, and clients. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Medical Technology Certification required. The ability to manage a veterinary clinical pathology laboratory and personnel is required. Physical Demands Some periods of continuous bench work and light lifting. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Supervision of clinical pathology laboratory section (including but not limited to): Supervision of medical technologists on duty Performance/supervision of all test procedures Maintenance/operation of equipment Control of inventory Development of new assays Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities Provide technical assistance and advice to faculty, practitioners and clients. Employee is responsible for completing daily workload and reporting results to clients daily. Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities Responsible for hiring and training medical technologist and student workers. Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities Maintain quality control and management of quality assurance program by running control samples for hematology, serum chemistry and urinalysis and review results to assess instrument and reagent integrity. Percentage of time 10
