Sr. Laboratory Technologist, R
D DEPARTMENT R D ANTIGEN PRODUCTION POSITION SUMMARY
"We are seeking an individual with chromatography experience and familiar with protein purification. The candidate should have experience with routine lab equipment and possess the desire to learn advanced protein purification techniques. Experience with analytical testing and immunochemical gel techniques is preferred." Organizes and performs a variety of procedures in the processes of preparing high quality antigen products for Nittobo America Inc., under general supervision, through a variety of scientific techniques, instrumentation, and disciplines by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Implements large and small-scale purification and/or processing of proteins using various types of chromatography. Demonstrates proficiency in troubleshooting purification/processing issues. Implements special products manufacture by using and applying a variety of production and testing equipment following standard operating procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in troubleshooting instrumentation issues. Uses immuno or electrophoretic methods to determine purity of antigens and/or antibodies. Performs various tests requiring good knowledge of product and processes and consults on adjustments. Performs filtering, concentrating, and buffer exchanging. Participates in and helps plan special and interdepartmental projects. Able to self-manage/work independently. Analyzes and makes recommendations of affinity material for manufacturing use. Partners with supervisor/manager to interpret clean-up fractions. Adheres to industry standards regarding aseptic technique and safe handling of biohazardous materials. Maintains records of inventories. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be successful in this position: Bachelor's degree (B.S) from four-year college or university in life science (Biochemistry preferred); and three to five years related on-the-job experience. Ability to read and interpret SOPs, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals. Ability to maintain accurate detailed written documents of methods and results of projects, and to prepare reports while effectively presenting information and respond to questions from management and all other employees. Intermediate lab skills, computer skills, proficiency in commonly used software programs for work processing, spreadsheets, and databases and the ability to maintain complete, clear, concise scientific records. Proficient with the company ERP system; following training. Requires the ability to follow established procedures, work with limited supervision and to plan work activities from general directions. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on and on-going basis without sponsorship .
