Job Description

Responsibilities:
To provide standardized clinical laboratory analysis in order to provide information or materials for use by physicians in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease or the assessment of a medical condition. Performs proficiency testing, quality control, professional consultation, instrument maintenance and validation, testing validation, testing management and all quality functions. Full Time Monday-Friday Day Shift Essential Functions Uses the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of the examination, such as judgment, specimen acceptability and clinical condition to examine materials or specimens taken from the human body to provide information or materials in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of a disease or the assessment of a medical condition as required by a physician. Notifies appropriate individuals of stat and critical value results. Interacts with patients, their families, patient care personnel and physicians regarding test procedures and requirements. After proper instruction, operates scientific medical laboratory instruments, and performs any required procedures, following established departmental protocols. Performs preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments; troubleshoots problems. Makes repairs if possible or refers problems to supervisor. Performs instrument validation as required. Effectively uses the functions of the computer systems in the department to enter information and locate laboratory test results and other information. Maintains confidentiality.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry or related field.
