Job Description

SHIFTS 2nd & 3rd Available; 3-12 hours shifts Collects blood samples by venipuncture, arterial and capillary puncture demonstrating skill with patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatric. Collects drug screen and paternity specimens. Handles and processes lab orders and specimens utilizing the computer system in an efficient manner. Is able to manage workload demands by organizing and prioritizing. Has the ability to maintain mature and professional behavior under the stress of heavy workload and acute patient care situations. Has the ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions. Performs and reports bioanalytical testing according to Standard Operating Procedures to include Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Blood Bank, Serology, Urinalysis, and limited Microbiology. Possesses the knowledge of lab tests, quality control, equipment maintenance and reporting procedures for age related normals. Demonstrates commitment to quality and continuing competency. Is able to recognize, identify and perform procedural or technical problems in all lab areas. Knows when to contact technical service or the clinical engineer. Is able to recognize their limitations and refers to MT for guidance, help etc. Accepts and completes extra duties as assigned by Laboratory Team Leader. Qualifications • Associates/bachelor’s degree in natural science required; ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
