Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Blood Bank Medical Technologist to join our dynamic clinical laboratory team. $10k
SIGN ON BONUS.
Must have atleast 1+ year of blood bank experience in a trauma level 1 hospital. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for performing complex blood bank testing, ensuring the safety and compatibility of blood products, and supporting transfusion services within a hospital or clinical setting. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive laboratory experience, including blood banking procedures, immunoassays, and advanced laboratory techniques. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care through precise testing, data management, and adherence to regulatory standards. Duties Conduct blood bank testing including crossmatching, antibody screening, and blood typing using advanced laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry and immunoassays. Manage specimen collection and processing, ensuring proper venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen labeling in accordance with aseptic techniques. Perform molecular assays such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), RNA extraction, and DNA isolation for research or diagnostic purposes. Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for accurate data entry, sample tracking, and result reporting. Maintain strict compliance with laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality control standards to ensure reliable results. Collaborate with clinical teams to interpret test results, provide consultation on blood compatibility, and support clinical trials or research laboratory projects. Monitor laboratory equipment performance including centrifuges, analyzers, and flow cytometers; perform routine maintenance and calibration. Document all procedures thoroughly in accordance with medical terminology standards and regulatory requirements. Support laboratory management by assisting in inventory control of reagents and supplies related to blood banking and immunoassays. Skills Extensive knowledge of blood banking principles including blood typing, crossmatching, antibody identification, and transfusion medicine. Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and immunoassays. Strong data management skills with experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Clinical laboratory experience with a focus on specimen collection/processing and venipuncture procedures. Familiarity with physiology concepts related to blood components and anatomy relevant to phlebotomy. Ability to interpret medical terminology accurately within a hospital or clinical environment. Excellent laboratory procedures skills including aseptic technique and vital signs monitoring during sample collection. Experience working in a research or clinical trial setting is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assays simultaneously while maintaining accuracy. Knowledge of hospital-based laboratory operations combined with effective communication skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
