Immunogenetics Technologist Trainee (Pathology)
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- #Staff The Pathology Department is seeking an Immunogenetics Technologist Trainee who works under the direct supervision of a laboratory manager and/or bench supervisor.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop laboratory skills in the following areas: lymphocyte isolation and purification, Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecular typing, DNA technologies including rSSO, RT-PCR, NGS, and TGS, flow cytometry crossmatch, Luminex-based assays, deceased donor on-call training
- Genotype families
- Prepare reagents accurately
- Maintain quality control of reagents and equipment
- Operate and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics, flow cytometers, Luminex instruments, liquid nitrogen freezers
- Perform computer data entry
- Tabulate, analyze, and report issues
- Perform meticulous record keeping
- Learn to troubleshoot problems when they arise during technical procedures
- Learn to teach techniques and underlying principles
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Medical Technology, or related field
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
