Job Description
The Pathology Department is seeking an Immunogenetics Technologist Trainee who works under the direct supervision of a laboratory manager and/or bench supervisor. The trainee will develop skills in one or more areas in the laboratory and receive the necessary training to advance to a technologist role. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Develop laboratory skills in the following areas: lymphocyte isolation and purification, Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecular typing, DNA technologies including rSSO, RT-PCR, NGS, and TGS, flow cytometry crossmatch, Luminex-based assays, deceased donor on-call training. Genotype families. Prepare reagents accurately. Maintain quality control of reagents and equipment. Operate and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics, flow cytometers, Luminex instruments, liquid nitrogen freezers. Perform computer data entry. Tabulate, analyze, and report issues. Perform meticulous record keeping. Learn to troubleshoot problems when they arise during technical procedures. Learn to teach techniques and underlying principles. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Medical Technology, or related field. Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Related post-undergraduate work experience. Technical Skills & Expected Level of Proficiency Data Management and Analysis
