Medical Technologist (MT/MLS)
Pay Rate:
$28.00/hr Cleveland, OH Job Description The Medical Technologist performs complex laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role ensures accurate and timely test results while maintaining compliance with laboratory procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, and urinalysis Analyze and interpret laboratory results accurately and efficiently Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment Ensure compliance with quality control, safety, and infection prevention standards Review abnormal results and notify physicians or nursing staff as necessary Prepare and process patient specimens according to established procedures Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records and documentation Assist with troubleshooting equipment and resolving technical issues Participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives Train and mentor laboratory assistants, students, or new staff as needed Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, CAP, CLIA, and organizational policies and procedures Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field Certification preferred or required: MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), AMT, or equivalent State licensure if required by state regulations Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and computer applications 1-3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred Experience in hospital, diagnostic, or reference laboratory settings Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment and regulatory standards Ability to stand for extended periods Manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment and specimens Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Exposure to biological materials and chemicals in a laboratory environment #INDHSSimilar jobs in Cleveland, OH
