PRN Job Summary:
Under general direction, performs routine and complex technical laboratory analyses using established procedures and protocols. Performs chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Takes x-rays.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a full range of laboratory tests from simple blo od tests to more complex tests. Assesses specimens fo r correct handling and quality. Confirms the accuracy of test results and reports findings to physicians. Operates complex electronic equipment, compu ters and precision instruments. Performs and evalua tes quality control procedures. Performs periodic maintenance and assists with the calibration of instruments. Assists with the proper storage of hazardous materials. Maintains competencies and continuing education to keep informe d of new developments in field. Assists in the proficiency testing program in the lab. Takes x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes . Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Associate's degree, or equivalent years of experience and education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent lifting/moving of patients. Frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Rare kneeling and sitting.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Resuscitation Certification Requirement:
Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
