1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Polysomnographer / Sleep Technologist with 3+ years of experience and RPSGT or RRT-SDS certification for a night shift contract in a hospital sleep lab setting. Details Work in a hospital-based sleep lab unit Patient population includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients presenting with sleep-related disorders Procedures include full polysomnograms, MSLTs, MWTs, CPAP/BiPAP titration, and oxygen therapy administration Electrode application follows the International 10-20 System or sleep lab-specific standards 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM Schedule options: Monday-Wednesday or Thursday-Saturday May be floated to other departments where qualified before core staff is floated Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in polysomnography RPSGT certification (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists) OR RRT with Sleep Disorders Specialty credential (RRT-SDS) required; license required if applicable Graduate of an accredited polysomnography or respiratory therapy program Current BLS certification required Proficiency with polysomnographic equipment, scoring software, and digital data management systems Experience performing and scoring polysomnograms, MSLTs, and MWTs in accordance with AASM guidelines Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and assist with transferring patients over 100 lbs using proper techniques or mechanical aids Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift Additional Information Perform full sleep study workflow including setup, data acquisition, staging, scoring, and clinical intervention as needed Accurately identify and document sleep stages, respiratory events, limb movements, cardiac arrhythmias, and other physiological parameters; differentiate between physiological data and artifact Fit, dispense, and troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP devices; perform minor equipment repairs as needed Administer oxygen and CPAP therapy per physician orders and provide patient and family education on equipment use Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment and ensure adequate inventory of clean and functional supplies Participate in inter-rater reliability exercises and continuing education to maintain scoring competency May participate in orientation and training of new staff CRASE training will be required if the assignment extends beyond 6 months First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
