Temp-to-Perm Job Type:
Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts (must be flexible)
Guaranteed Hours:
40 hours per week Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join a rural acute care hospital laboratory. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for candidates interested in long-term employment and career growth. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded laboratory generalist with recent phlebotomy experience and the ability to work independently across multiple laboratory departments. Candidates should be comfortable performing laboratory testing, specimen collection, and supporting patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Schedule Candidates must be available to work either of the following shifts and be flexible with scheduling:
Monday-Friday:
11:00 AM - 8:00
PM Monday-Friday:
12:00 PM - 9:00 PM No call requirements. Responsibilities Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Blood Bank, and Microscopy. Collect patient specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection. Process and analyze laboratory specimens according to established procedures. Perform blood bank testing using manual gel methodology. Conduct basic microbiology functions including specimen plating and Gram stains. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation. Accurately document results within the laboratory information system. Follow all quality assurance, safety, and regulatory standards. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care. Required Qualifications Associate Degree (MLT) or Bachelor's Degree (MLS/MT) in Medical Laboratory Science or related field. Current ASCP Certification required. Current BLS Certification required. Active state license (if applicable). Recent phlebotomy experience required. Experience working as a laboratory generalist. Ability to independently work across multiple laboratory departments. Preferred Qualifications Rural hospital or critical access hospital laboratory experience. Experience with Cerner (Oracle) electronic health record system. Strong bench laboratory skills and troubleshooting ability. Experience working independently in a small laboratory setting. Preferred Equipment Experience Vitros 5600 (Chemistry) Sysmex (Hematology) Stago Satellite (Coagulation) Vitek (Microbiology) Manual Ortho Gel (Blood Bank) Cerner/Oracle EHR Quidel platforms
