Job Description

Clinical Educator Perioperative Services (PAT,OR/ASC/PACU/GI) ExpandedJob SummaryProvides comprehensive education leadership across PAT, OR, ASC, PACU, and GI services. Responsible for structured orientation programs, routine in-services, mock drills, competency validation, advanced procedural training, and annual skills fairs to ensure regulatory compliance, surgical safety, operational throughput, and high reliability performance.

Major Responsibilities / Essential FunctionsDevelop and oversee structured perioperative department orientation programs.

Participate in Hospital-wide new employee orientationConduct routine in-services aligned with AORN standards, infection prevention, and regulatory updates.

Lead mock code drills including malignant hyperthermia, surgical fire, and code blue scenarios.

Oversee annual competency validation and perioperative skills fairs.

Provide advanced training in sterile technique, instrumentation, moderate sedation, and PACU recovery standards.

Support onboarding of new surgical technology and equipment.

Monitor quality metrics including SSI rates, first-case on-time starts, and surgical throughput.

Maintain education documentation and regulatory readiness records.

Financial StewardshipImprove surgical throughput and reduce case delays.

Support supply stewardship and preference card standardization.

Reduce overtime and inefficiencies through competency-based training.

Minimum EducationBachelor of Science in Nursing required.

Preferred EducationMaster of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Masters degree in related healthcare discipline preferred.

ExperienceMinimum 35 years of specialty clinical experience required. Prior experience in education, precepting, simulation training, or clinical leadership preferred.

Required Licensure/CertificationsCurrent California RN License required. BLS and ACLS required.

CNOR preferred and required within 6 months of hireWork EnvironmentMust be able to work in a union environment and support compliance, safety, and service excellence initiatives. Full-Time, Exempt
