Job Description

Job Summary:
Accountable for planning, promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluating educational activities. Accountable, in collaboration with area leadership teams, for promoting a continuous learning environment that supports ongoing staff development for assigned clinical areas. This position practices within the scope of the Respiratory Care Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.
Qualifications:
Education Program An approved respiratory care program (required) College Degree
  • 2 year An approved respiratory care program (required) Or College Degree
  • 4 year In a health related field within five (5) years of placement in position (required) Licenses and Certifications BLS
  • Basic Life Support
  • AHA•American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required) RCP•Respiratory Care Practitioner License•RCB•Respiratory Care Board of California (required) RRT•Registered Respiratory Therapist•NBRC•National Board for Respiratory Care (required) PALS•Pediatric Advanced Life Support•AHA•American Heart Association PICU only within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required) NRP•Neonatal Resuscitation Program•AHA•American Heart Association within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required) Other•Other Maintains membership in appropriate professional organization(s).

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Valley Children's Hospital is Central California's only Regional Level IV NICU
  • the highest level of medical care available for premature and critically ill newborns.
With a focus on family-centered care, our patients have access to a full range of pediatric and surgical specialists that treat potentially life-threatening illnesses due to extreme prematurity, congenital defects, injury, chronic illnesses and more. Collectively, our NICUs provide specialized care for more than 1,400 fragile babies and nearly 25,000 patient days a year. Our team supports a regional network of NICUs throughout Central California, serving Madera, Merced, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare counties. Our neonatal transport team—composed of specially trained RNs and RCPs—provides timely, advanced stabilization and coordinated transfer of critically ill newborns across these service areas. Our level II and level III satellite NICUs (Fresno, Merced & Hanford) are staffed with Valley Children's team of experts to provide patients the opportunity to receive treatment closer to home. The RCPs in these satellite units are trained to attend high-risk deliveries and resuscitate babies in the delivery room if needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
