Job Description Develops and cultivates a simulation program for the Scottish Rite GPC to be delivered to clinical staff. Designs, coordinates, operates, facilitates, and evaluates clinical simulations for clinical staff and physicians. Experience 3 years of experience in the general pediatric specialty area (GPC) Preferred Qualifications Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) within 90 days of employment as required by department specifications Certification in specialty (i.e.RRT, CCRN, CPON
) 1 year of experience in staff development, clinical education, patient/family education, or community education Engages in organizational committees and/or shared governance councils (i.e. Patient Safety and Quality Council) Familiarity or experience in simulation utilizing human simulators Education Bachelor's degree from a school of Nursing, Allied Health, or specific discipline for department/service area Certification Summary Current licensure based on specific discipline Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must possess excellent interpersonal skills Advanced oral and written communication skills, to include facilitation and presentation skills Basic knowledge of adult learning principles in the design of educational activities to provide quality training materials Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with attention to details and timelines Ability to learn new technologies Exhibits creativity and flexibility in times of change Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software application relevant to medical simulator functions Job Responsibilities Designs, coordinates, and facilitates clinical simulations for department's clinical staff in partnership with Children's Simulation Center. Engages in development of simulation knowledge, skills and competence through onboarding, mentoring, and regularly scheduled meetings with the Simulation Center. Actively assesses opportunities to enhance learning through simulation. Develops simulation programs based on organizational strategic plans, quality and safety trends, department goals, learning needs assessments, and/or practice gap analyses. Demonstrates use of different simulation modalities and debriefing strategies to achieve desired outcomes. Evaluates outcomes and revises simulation activities based on data and feedback. Reports results to department leaders and Children's Simulation Center. Conducts planning to include nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) or inter-professional continuing education (CEU), if desired, in accordance with accrediting agency requirements. Fosters a culture of lifelong learning and development through role-modeling, mentoring and guidance. Incorporates research, evidence-based practice (EBP), practice-based evidence and benchmarked best-practices into educational planning and to guide practice decisions. Manages initial and ongoing development of clinical simulation program by leading a guiding team in department. Facilitates onboarding of new Children's clinicians with simulation-based educational strategies to improve clinical competence. Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge by maintaining skills and competence in the patient care setting as evidenced by the ability to deliver proficient patient care.
