Responsibilities:
Serves as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice. Major roles of the Clinical Specialist include those of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, and Clinical Guideline Manager. Utilizes clinical practice expertise to serve as a role model for collaborative practice model. Develops clinical guidelines for high-risk/high cost patients through clinical pathway systems. Conducts clinical research; assists nursing staff in applying research findings and pathway data analysis results as they relate to patient outcomes. Monitors resource utilization to assure appropriate level of utilization. Assists with the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, and standards of care; ensures consistency of clinical guideline documents and hospital-wide policies with recognized regulatory and specialty standards. Facilitates resolution of individual patient care variances. Serves as a patient advocate and as a resource for complex patient care situations. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED
Master's Degree in Nursing from an Accredited College or University. Minimum (3) years experience in clinical area. Effective analytical and organizational skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to educate others and serve as a positive change agent.
