Job Description

Job Summary Responsible for nursing practice management of selected at-risk or complex patients and aggregate patient populations in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and health care team members. The clinical nurse specialist is accountable for assisting in the design, implementation, and measurement of safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies. Must maintain current professional knowledge and contribute to the advancement of practice through the continuum of care. Job Description Essential Functions:
Optimizing patient care by serving as an expert clinician and consultant for nursing staff to help achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Performing health assessments and develops individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Collaborates to create evidence-based nursing practices, policies and procedures. Considering differential diagnoses and making clinical recommendations. Consulting with patients and their families on how to best to implement medical recommendations and manage their conditions. Staying up to date with the latest developments in nursing practice and contributing to research. Demonstrable experience in collaborating with staff, administration, and managing resources. Ability to identify and facilitate educational programs or in-service training sessions. In-depth knowledge of best nursing practices and standards, clinical research and advancements in the field of cardiovascular nursing. Promote effective and collaborative communication through excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills. Lead and participate in systematic quality improvement and patient safety initiatives based on problem/trend identification, gap analysis and process evaluation that help drive practice changes throughout the organization. All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements Required:
Education
  • Master's degree in Clinical Nurse Specialist Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • South Dakota Board of Nursing Experience
  • 3+ years of Acute Registered Nurse Experience
