Job Description

Quality Reporting Program Manager Howard University Hospital | Washington, DC Role Summary As the Quality Reporting Program Manager at Howard University Hospital, you will own the integrity of HUH's quality reporting program — managing the accurate collection, validation, and timely submission of quality data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Leapfrog, The Joint Commission, and other public reporting bodies. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Strategic Improvement, you will partner with clinical leaders, abstractors, and executive stakeholders to translate performance data into actionable insights and drive measurable improvement on key metrics including mortality, sepsis, readmissions, and star ratings. If you bring a clinical or quality analytics foundation, a fluency with CMS reporting programs, and a passion for using data to elevate patient outcomes, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact at one of the nation's most storied academic medical centers. What You'll Do Manage the accurate collection and timely submission of quality data to CMS, Leapfrog, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory and public reporting programs Monitor and analyze hospital performance against national benchmarks and publicly reported data; identify opportunities for improvement on key metrics including mortality, sepsis, readmissions, and CMS star ratings Develop quality performance dashboards, scorecards, and reports for executive leadership, service lines, and quality committees Oversee abstraction processes and ensure ongoing adherence to measure specifications Conduct internal audits and validation reviews to confirm data accuracy and reporting integrity Translate quality data trends into specific, prioritized improvement recommendations for clinical and operational leaders Maintain working knowledge of CMS Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR), Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (HVBP), Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), and emerging public reporting requirements Promote adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, Howard University Code of Ethics, Health Sciences Standards of Conduct, and HIPAA Privacy requirements Maintain strict confidentiality of patients, families, and staff Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required in Nursing (BSN), Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical or quality analytics experience in an acute care setting, with demonstrated experience in hospital quality reporting Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) at hire, or obtained within eighteen (18) months of hire Working knowledge of CMS Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR), Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (HVBP), Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), and related public reporting programs Proven ability to interpret reporting requirements from CMS and other regulatory agencies Demonstrated proficiency with healthcare data analytics and reporting tools Proficiency with electronic medical record systems Strong project management, coordination, written, and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership What We Offer Work-life balance Recognition and rewards for professional expertise Competitive, comprehensive benefit plans including health, disability, vacation, sick leave, and 403(b) retirement plan Tuition remission at Howard University for you and/or eligible dependent children — up to two (2) courses per semester A mission-driven environment rooted in over 150 years of excellence, service, and advocacy for the communities we serve About Howard University Hospital Howard University Hospital (HUH) is the nation's only teaching hospital located on the campus of a historically Black university. Position Details Department Quality and Strategic Improvement Reports To Director, Quality and Strategic Improvement FLSA Status Exempt Schedule Full-Time | Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Pay & Schedule This is a full-time, exempt, onsite position based at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Salary range:
$85,000 - $100,000 annually , commensurate with experience and qualifications.
