University of Pennsylvania Keyword Location Search view all jobs Assistant/Associate Professor, Clinician Educator Track Division of Community Oral Health University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine Philadelphia, PA Posted 3 days ago Apply Now The Division of Community Oral Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Clinician Educator track. This position is designed for an individual committed to excellence in teaching, clinical care, and community-engaged oral health research, consistent with the expectations of the Clinician Educator faculty track at the University of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will contribute to the Division's educational mission through didactic instruction, clinical care, mentoring, and curriculum development within the School of Dental Medicine. The position also emphasizes the development of an independent program of scholarly activity related to community oral health, public health dentistry, health disparities, or related fields. Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver didactic and seminar-based instruction to predoctoral and graduate dental students in topics related to community oral health, public health dentistry, health promotion, prevention, and other areas.
  • Provide clinical care to patients at community sites managed by the division and at Penn Dental Medicine.
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the Division of Community Oral Health.
  • Mentor students and trainees in scholarly projects and community-based initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a program of scholarship, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Collaborate with faculty across the School of Dental Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania on interdisciplinary research and educational initiatives.
  • Participate in academic service activities within the Division, School, and University.
About the Division Committed to improving oral health for our patients and our local and global communities, Penn Dental Medicine's Division of Community Oral Health is responsible for the required predoctoral didactic and community based experiential and clinical education in community and public health, health promotion, cultural competency, ethics, and behavioral and practice management. The Division's academically based service learning program provides the framework for faculty and students to expand community engagement in the Philadelphia region with patients traditionally underserved by dentistry, such as low-income adults and children, including preschool and school age children, elderly, and those patients with medical complex conditions. The Division also maintains a robust profile of community engaged scholarship and research projects, and is currently engaged in a large research development initiative focused on community oral health. Qualifications Applicants must possess the following:
  • PhD/DrPH/ScD in dental public health, health services research, epidemiology, or similar field and clinical training such as RDH, DMD, DDS, etc. or
  • DMD/DDS or equivalent dental degree with demonstrated research training or experience (e.
g., MPH or equivalent research-focused experience) Individuals holding a doctoral degree and PHDHP credential are especially encouraged to apply.
