COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER - OVERDOSE PREVENTION PROGRAM - BISBEE CLASSIFIED

$18.50 to $20.50 hourly dependent upon qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.P LEASE NOTE

: Under general supervision, provides transportation, assistance, and outreach in accordance with the Overdose Prevention Program guidelines; performs related duties as assigned.As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. : (Illustrative Only) Under grant guidelines, coordinates with detention medical staff to transport newly released inmates from Cochise County Jail to the location(s) specified in their reentry plan; works closely with their team, community-based providers, and other local agencies to aid participants in receiving comprehensive support; conducts outreach to community organizations and individuals to expand participation in overdose prevention efforts; provides overdose recognition and response education; distributes naloxone and approved prevention supplies; assists with outreach and follow-up efforts to individuals and families impacted by substance use, providing information, referrals, and connection to available community resources in accordance with program guidelines; general clerical tasks. High School diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of experience serving in a community service role. Community Health Worker Core Competency training and CPR certification must be completed within six (6) months of hire. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License and the ability to be covered by county insurance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
: Preference may be given to individuals who read, write, and speak Spanish. Preference may also be given to individuals who have experience working with individuals who have mental health disorders.Knowledge of:
public health programs and services; basic health education services and collection of health information; communities within the county and services offered; opioid use disorder, overdose prevention, and community-based recovery resources; dynamics of social interaction and behavior.Skill in:
use of health education programs; following policies and procedures; eliciting information through interviews and collecting client information; office practices and procedures to include use of computer programs.Ability to:
demonstrate an understanding of, and a belief in, the addiction recovery process; handle intense emotional situations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public; follow the policy and procedure manual for the program; prepare and maintain records, charts and reports; follow written and verbal instruction; manage time and prioritize tasks; work independently and as a member of a team; read, write, and speak English; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; work well with people of varied socioeconomic backgrounds.WORK ENVIRONMENT
: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls and at various locations throughout the community with a variety of climatic conditions. Requires travel to various locations throughout Arizona and may include working early mornings, evenings and weekends.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity and the ability to communicate.Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force; frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds requires a good deal of walking, standing or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controlsMental Application:
