Public Health Solutions is a regional local public health department serving five counties in rural southeast Nebraska. JOB SUMMARY
Community Health Worker (CHW) is a standard position within the organization and individual job duties/responsibilities will depend on the program assignment. All CHW positions will include interaction with the public through group events or individual service provision. CHWs will assist individuals and/or families to navigate & access community resources.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Contribute positively as a staff member of the organization. Must be dependable and reliable to report to work as scheduled. Professional representation of Public Health Solutions to the public. Participate in all required trainings. Scheduled hours may vary. Willing to be flexible to adjust hours, including possibly coming early, staying late, or occasional weekend hours as needed. Data entry into an electronic health records system and using Excel spreadsheets. Adheres to strict confidentiality regulations. Other duties as assigned. Provide culturally competent, professional service to the public and individual clients. Information on specific program duties will be shared during interview process.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Team oriented work style and ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to maintain confidentiality Experience using Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Outlook Excellent customer service skills Organized and efficient at time management Ability to multi-task Ability to demonstrate cultural competence General knowledge of standard office equipment including printer, fax, multi-line telephone system, computers Willingness and ability to learn all core functions and responsibilities of Public Health and understand the importance of this position's role in carrying out PHS mission and vision.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with the public, particularly in a one-on-one service setting is desired. Specific experience in social services or healthcare is a plus but not required for most positions. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred for some (but not all) positions. Premium pay offered for demonstrated bilingual proficiency.
OTHER:
A valid driver's license and auto insurance coverage is required and must be able to safely operate a vehicle. While performing the duty of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. This position is 100% on-site and does not include remote or hybrid work. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
COMPENSATION
Initial compensation will commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications for the job. Compensation may be adjusted based upon job performance.
