Job Description

The Community Health Worker will serve as a visible, relationship-building representative of Uzazi Village in the community. This person will support outreach and awareness efforts by participating in maternal health-related events, helping plan and staff community-based programming, and fostering strong partnerships across the metro area. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: Community Engagement Represent Uzazi Village at community health fairs, Chamber of Commerce meetings, hospital coalitions, equity forums, etc. Develop partnerships with local hospitals as well as with public health departments and maternal-child health organizations. Build collaborations with schools, emergency organizations, and grassroots nonprofits to expand Uzazi's reach and referrals. Donor Relations and Development Collaborate with the Development and Executive teams to assist with fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and events. Track and report donor and partner engagement metrics in coordination with the grant and communications teams. Develop donor engagement materials and track donor and partner engagement metrics. Volunteer and Client Services Coordination Oversee volunteer recruitment, retention, onboarding, recording and scheduling across programs and events. Supervise the coordination of donation drives, resource closets, and in-kind distribution efforts. Oversee the Clothing Boutique, ensuring it remains organized, stocked, and welcoming for families. Coordinate diaper distribution and Happy Bottoms deliveries, ensuring inventory levels are maintained and families receive items efficiently. Ensure all in-kind donations meet organizational standards for safety and quality. Data, Reporting and Evaluation Maintain accurate records of outreach events, client encounters, volunteer hours, and donor activity. Produce monthly and quarterly "Community and Partnership Impact Reports" that summarize outcomes, success stories, challenges, and opportunities or growth. Support the CEO, grant and communications teams by providing narrative input and data for proposals, evaluations, and public reports. Additional responsibilities may arise that support and advance the organization's mission. These duties, while not explicitly listed, are vital to achieving our goals and serving our community effectively. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Community Health, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or outreach, preferably in a nonprofit or health-related setting, Community Health Worker Certification. Mandatory ability to work possible evenings and/or weekends for community events. Strong organizational and data management skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for community, donors, and funders. Ability to build and maintain strong community relationships and partnerships. Being bilingual in Spanish (or another language common in the community) is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data tracking tools Culturally competent and passionate about health equity, maternal health, and community empowerment.
