Mike Etter Blvd Marana, AZ 85653 Get Directions Full Time Tangerine Farms K8 Posted 4/29/2026 POSITION SUMMARY Assists the school nurse or nurse facilitator in caring for the health needs of students and staff within the district. Under the direct and indirect supervision of a school nurse, performs the essential functions of a health assistant. Additionally, supports district-wide health initiatives, compliance processes, and health information systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs routine first aid procedures; assists in screening ill or injured students. Upon evaluation, provides appropriate treatment indicated or refers seriously ill or injured students to emergency medical services (911). Maintains a daily log of student visits, documenting reasons and actions taken; enters data into computerized systems. Maintains accurate student health records, including health histories, and specialized records. Assists students with management of chronic health conditions, i.e., asthma, seizures, diabetes. Conducts hearing and vision screenings; records and communicates results to appropriate parties. Notifies parents/guardians of failed screenings and assists with follow-up procedures. Reports communicable diseases to appropriate health agencies in accordance with guidelines Gathers, interprets, and inputs immunization records from parents, healthcare providers, and agencies into the student information system. Performs clerical duties as needed, including answering phones and managing correspondence Maintains and orders health office supplies Assists with medication administration and monitoring of students with chronic health conditions Facilitates and schedules district-wide mass hearing and vision screenings, ensuring timely completion and coordination across sites Assists all Health Services staff with immunization compliance requirements and monitoring, ensuring adherence to state and district regulations. Responsible for submission of Medicaid billing documentation related to vision and hearing screenings and other eligible services Serves as a resource and primary point of contact for staff regarding the Synergy student information system, including: End-user support Health module functionality Report generation Training new staff on Synergy Health Modules Performs related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Effective verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of basic first aid procedures, including CPR and AED use Understanding of universal precautions and bloodborne pathogen protocols Proficiency in using medical equipment such as thermometers and blood pressure monitors Ability to recognize signs symptoms of anaphylaxis and appropriate use of an Epi-Pen Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of respiratory distress Ability to recognize signs and symptoms hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle a variety of situations with sound judgment Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, parents, and the community Knowledge of and compliance with federal/state laws, district procedures, and board policies Ability to manage sensitive health situations professionally and compassionately Strong experience with Synergy platform and possess the knowledge and ability to train others effectively
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1 year experience working with children Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare or medical setting Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification Clerical experience preferred Experience with student information systems (e.g., Synergy) preferred Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that meets minimum requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Noise levels range from quiet to moderate, with occasional high noise levels Frequent interaction with students, staff, parents, and the public •Internal candidates must submit a request for transfer form signed by your site administrator within 5 working days of the posting date. •$17.96/hour - 10 Month position - 40 hours/week
