Job Description
Join our team today and help show the world that Peace is a LIFEstyle. Hospital Responders work both independently and as part of a team to prevent and respond to neighborhood shootings and killings. They provide conflict mediation, referrals, and follow-up services to victims of violence and their families. Position Responsibilities Respond to shootings and other incidents of severe violence to help prevent retaliation when notified by hospital staff. Gather information about shooting or violence-related incidents to assist in mediating situations and preventing retaliation between individuals and groups. Intervene in circumstances where retaliation is likely to occur. Formulate action plans with the program team to help resolve conflicts. Gather information regarding potential conflicts affecting South Jamaica neighborhoods. Build relationships with individuals at the highest risk in the community, as well as those connected to them. Report to the Program Manager/Outreach Worker Supervisor and keep them informed of all hospital notifications and communications. Maintain a daily log documenting all contacts with hospital staff, patients, family members, and friends. Attend all required program trainings. Attend weekly staff meetings and additional team meetings as required. Attend regular implementation meetings with hospital staff. Qualification Requirements In-depth knowledge of the community within the target area. Experience working with high-risk youth and gang-involved individuals. Knowledge of neighborhoods, street sets, crews, gangs, and/or groups. Ability to pass random drug screenings. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Commitment to working toward positive community change. No pending criminal cases or prior convictions related to sexual assault, child abuse, or domestic violence. Excellent communication skills. Experience and/or training in crisis intervention.
Pay:
