Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 17:30) Weekly for 40 hours : $2,593 weekly ($30/hr w2 + $1,393 week stipend)

Position Overview:
The Cytotechnologist is responsible for preparing, examining, and evaluating cellular specimens under a microscope to identify abnormal, precancerous, and cancerous cells. Working under the direction of a pathologist, the Cytotechnologist plays a vital role in the early detection and diagnosis of disease by analyzing specimens from various body sites and ensuring accurate laboratory results in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and stain cytology specimens using established laboratory procedures. Examine gynecologic (Pap tests) and non-gynecologic specimens for cellular abnormalities. Identify and classify normal, abnormal, infectious, inflammatory, precancerous, and malignant cells. Refer abnormal or suspicious findings to the pathologist for final interpretation. Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records. Perform quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate test results. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment. Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines, including CLIA, CAP, and applicable state requirements. Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education programs. Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely reporting of results.
