MOLECULAR TESTING PERSONNEL PRN AS NEEDED POSITION SUMMARY
The Molecular Laboratory Technologist/Technician will perform high complexity molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, data analysis and interpretation of various infectious disease panels
RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently and accurately perform routine and complex molecular testing, including DNA/RNA extraction and PCR Review preliminary and final test results. Assist in resolution of technical problems in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Record, compile and maintain records according to laboratory policies to ensure state and federal regulations are upheld for all reagents, procedures, and equipment used in the testing process. Assist in the development, evaluation, and implementation of new procedures and protocols. Maintain patient confidentiality. Coordinate daily communications of laboratory with physicians and other parties. Participate in educational activities. Perform other related work as required
CLIA QUALIFICATIONS OPTIONS
( 42 CFR 493.1489) Associate's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical lab technology. Educational equivalent to Associate's degree with at least: 60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical lab technology; OR 60 semester hours including 24 hours of science that includes 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours chemistry, biology, medical technology in any combination; AND 3 months training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed or completion of an approved department of Health and Human Services HHS lab training program (ABHES, CAHEA). Qualified as a technologist on or before Feb. 28 1992. On or before April. 24 1995: High school diploma or
GED and:
Graduated from a HHS approved lab training program (ABHES, CAHEA); OR Completed a military lab 50 week training course.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1-2
two years of experience in a molecular CLIA licensed clinical laboratory Medical Technologist board certification Ability to read and comprehend English and follow instructions Good communication and critical thinking skills Understanding of statistics Ability to creatively think under pressure and handle high stress levels, changing environments, and possible irregular work hours Ability to recognize potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and/or hazardous chemicals in the workplace and execute safety protocols in the event of exposure or spill Must be able to demonstrate competency for all required diagnostic tests and other areas of assignment within 3 months of hire date

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to climb stairs, lift 35lbs, sit or stand for long periods, and walk/bend down Visual and auditory acuity and good eye/hand coordination

Reports to the General Supervisor and Technical Supervisor
